âSo I'm going to start this review with-I binged on the entire series one weekend. Yes, that is a lot of books, I think it came to 13 or 14 total with the novels and novellas. So, you can imagine that I can compare them pretty well reading them back-to-back-to-back. With that being said, I think this one is my favorite. All of the books as a whole pretty much follow the same plot. That's not a bad thing, obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have kept reading. However, when I got to this one, it's similar to the others, but different and that made it amazing. It was an amazing change of pace from the others and I loved it!
We meet Kai a couple of books beforehand as he's brought in to profile potential clients for Sanctum. This book takes place-if you haven't read the others, skip this review right now-after Sanctum is blown up and rebuilt. Kori is Kai's assistant hiding a pretty devastating and dark past. She's a sub at Sanctum but neither Kai nor Kori have "played" together until Kai needs to train his brother, who he doesn't have a relationship with really. Through the lesson, Kai learns that Kori is his perfect sub but she doesn't want that because of her past. You learn a lot about Kai and Kori in this one, which was also a great change compared to the others. Kai is tasked with a secret assignment from Ian that will put his relationship with Kori on the line. When it's all said and done, you find out if they really are the perfect match.
Kai is definitely an alpha like all of the others from McKay-Taggert but he has a different reason for turning to the lifestyle. His tastes are also more dark than the others. Kori is all sass, and I loved her for it. She could hold her own barb-for-barb with Kai and it was amazing! The sexual chemistry between the two is hot, and when they finally come together, it's explosive! A great addition to the series and an obvious 1-click!
