When I was seventeen, I disappeared. I walked out the door of my apartment with a backpack and never looked back. I left the life of Cora Mitchell behind, seeking freedom from my real-life nightmare. But my freedom came with a cost. I lived a fictitious life for the next six years, never letting anyone close enough to see underneath the facade that was Andra Walker. I was content with my simple little life. Until I met Julian. And the moment I started allowing myself to open up, allowing someone to see through the superficial, was the very same moment the Monster from my past would return to find me
A great read with a very romantic courtship and plenty of suspense and mystery. This is not your typical romance book with a ton of sex scenes. In fact, there is only one such scene in the entire book. The book focuses on Andra Walker and Julian James and Julian's courtship of Andra.
Andra is in hiding from an abusive family member who is looking for her to kill her. Julian is a mystery writer who is pretty well known and bases his stories off of cold cases his dad worked on. Julian comes to stay at the ranch that is hiding Andra and gets to know her. Andra doesn't do relationships because of her past and knowing that her family member is looking for her, she doesn't want to chance anyone getting hurt. As much as she tries to fight it, Julian and Andra fall in love just in time for Andra's past to come back and for Andra to have to leave Julian behind.
An amazing read from a great author. This book is full of angst, romance, courting and mystery. When all the secrets are revealed, you can't help but want more. The sequel releases this week!
